  • About Westley Franks

Hello there! My name is Westley Franks and I come from a family of professional tradesmen.  My father was a commercial property manager for the Alberta government. My grandfather, father, uncles, brother, cousin and I are all Electricians.  We also have a carpenter, roofer, and ironworker in the family. I take great pride in my knowledge of building systems and safety.  I am a dedicated industry professional that is continually learning about new technologies and codes.

I have lived and worked in Medicine Hat for 29+ years, as an Electrician, Quality Control Manager and Building Inspector. I have extensive experience in many different fields of the building trades, and I have worked for many different companies in Medicine Hat.  I completed my Electrical Apprenticeship and achieved Red Seal Journeyman status in 1999.  I obtained my Master Electrician Certification in 2002 and for several years I owned and operated an electrical contracting company wiring new houses.  For 10 years I was a branch manager for a large commercial electrical contracting company in Medicine Hat, responsible for Quality Control, Site Inspections, Request For Proposals and many other things.  Now I own & operate a small fully licensed Electrical Renovation business.  I am a graduate of the Carson Dunlop Home Inspection training program, the CDW Engineering Commercial Property Condition Assessment Training Program and the Canadian National Radon Proficiency Program. I am a fully licensed building inspector with the Province of Alberta, a member of the  Alberta Professional Home Inspector Society. and a member of the Canadian association of Radon Scientists and Technologists.

Electricity is hard to understand and it can be scary for many people. The greatest satisfaction I have received in all my years' experience has been helping clients feel at ease about the safety of their electrical systems.  Through my attention to detail, professionalism, and discipline I am able to provide excellent service and give my clients confidence that their homes and buildings are safe and functioning properly.

  • About Hat Home Inspections

With Hat Property Inspections , you are choosing a Professional Building Inspector and Certified Master Electrician wth 29 years experience, who provides high-quality Home Inspection services, Comercial Property Condition Assessments and Radon Mitigations in the Medicine Hat and Brooks area. I take great pride in doing a thorough job and going beyond my clients’ expectations.

My inspection experience is inclusive. I encourage you to join me during the inspection, and to ask questions as they come up. Having you with me on the inspection gives me an opportunity to thoroughly explain the condition of the home to you so there are no surprises later. I can also provide you with tips on home care and maintenance. For instance, you can learn how to turn off the water, gas, and electricity in an emergency.

A home inspection is valuable, but unless the experience is well-documented, most people will not remember all the important details. That is why I provide a comprehensive written report full of colour photos to serve as your guide for as long as you own the home. It not only describes the house components and their condition, but also provides insight into what improvements may be necessary, and when.

My report can also help you set up a home maintenance program to take care of one of the most significant investments most people make. My goal is to ensure that you can live safely, comfortably, and efficiently in your new home.
